These gifts are placed in front of a paper effigy of Phor Thor Kong (God of Hell). 
The offerings consists of fruits, bowls of rice, dumplings, sweets, chickens, roasted pigs and wine. they are displayed on huge platforms. Along with these, the Chinese would burn multi-coloured joss-sticks, joss-paper, paper clothes and 'Hell Bank Notes' to assuage the hunger of the ghost and gain their gratitude
