What is "Local Agenda 21"?.

Local Agenda 21 is the mandate

to local governments to translate
the United Nations Action Plan
for the 21st century (Agenda 21)
to the local level.
Local Agenda 21 is a local-government-led, community-wide, and participatory effort to establish a comprehensive action strategy for environmental protection, economic prosperity and community well-being in the local jurisdiction or area. This requires the integration of planning and action across economic, social and environmental spheres. Key elements are full community participation, assessment of current conditions, target setting for achieving specific goals, monitoring and reporting.

Council to review projects

THE Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) will do a review of its development projects carried out under the Local Agenda 21 programme.Mayor Mazalan Md Noor said it had been 10 years since the Local Agenda 21 blueprint was introduced for Shah Alam and the review would show whether the council was on the right track.
