HOMESTAY PROGRAM.

2/12/2009- News update.
On my first week as councillor, while wandering around the town and I notice that the folks here are not striving but rountinely passing their time away.Thunderous sound suddenly appeared, preparing for landing....and asked myself..why there are no one thinking of tapping the tourist market for the passed 40 years??? And popped! came the idea of homestay program and it's well accepted by businessmen and villagers here.
Folks who have homes in suburban and rural areas and have since moved to cities, have been told to take part in the thriving homestay programs in the area.
What the owners can do is to form partnerships with any interested parties or state tourism authorities and homestay operators to promote tourism.
Owners or the villagers can earn extra income by leasing their homes on a time-sharing basis to these parties and allow them to be leased to tourists rather than letting them remain vacant.
Under the program, visitors will be able to experience the full spectrum of village life as living with their hosts.
They would have a taste of the laid-back kampung lifestyle, learn how to prepare kampung dishes, play traditional games such as kite-flying, top-spinning and
congkak and enjoy the fruit season.
Villagers are reminded to make sure that they feel welcome and that your homes are clean. If these people go back happy, they would definitely promote your homestay programme to their friends.
